Our Story
And how a drought changed it all…
In 2011, Marcel Eksteen owner and operator started a garden service, back then we were first known as Lawn and Order.
Passionate about gardening and client service, allot of sweat and weed eater gut quickly grew clientele from 1 – 200 gardens that we maintained fortnightly, the team expanded to 7 members that split with up another bakkie, one that planted natural grass and the other team maintained the grass.
The walk in the park soon came to an end when water scarcity, restrictions and tariffs made dead grass seem okay to have.
Clients cancelled on a daily basis and soon we had less than 50 clients maintained at half the frequency, keeping our loyal staff employed became impossible.
While artificial grass started gaining popularity, the once criticized and laughed at – had us intrigued…
We had to learn and we did…
Our first Client in Monte Vista, the Revolution begun…
While renovating his new home, where a once beautiful buffalo lawn lived, that became extinct in the drought, a conversation about fake grass sprouted..
This was clearly the most aesthetically pleasing and long term solution, we were given the go ahead and researched all we could… yes back then we didn’t know much, but eager to learn and confident that we were fully backed up by our suppliers from day one made a huge difference. .
We all loved the results and the experience gave birth to Tidy Turf.
We were over the moon with the results and found the grass really to be greener on the other side!
But our roots run deep, serving and finding solutions motivate us and that’s why we have a multitude of services all relating to one another.
